Acoustic Well Sounder

Acoustic Well Sounder

An acoustic well sounder is used to obtain the distance from the wellhead to the liquid level in the casing annulus of an oil or gas well. The main components of an acoustic well sounder are a pressure pulse generator, an integrated microphone, a data acquisition unit and a diagnostic software.

The sonoecho™ wireless acoustic well sounder makes it easy to find and calculate accurate fluid level data. Its pressure pulse gas gun sends a gas pressure pulse down the annulus of the well. The pressure pulse echoes from each collar and the fluid as it travels down the well. These echoes are detected by a microphone within the gas gun. Attached to the gas gun the sonoecho™ acoustic well sounder features a wirelessly operated data acquisition unit which transmits the received signals from the microphone to any Windows 10 based tablet or laptop via Bluetooth.

The sonoecho™ diagnostic software converts the acquired signals into a chart on which the fluid level is displayed automatically. The operator may generate fluid level reports, illustrated with screen shots of the chart and complete fluid level data. The clearly arranged data archive including a trend graphic allows access to all measurements at a glance. Overlay of previous shots and display of trend curves help to understand the well's production life cycle. Editable reports may be printed, saved as data files or transmitted electronically as PDF files. All data files may also be stored as raw data to Excel.

Fluid level surveys are considered to be the primary diagnostic tool for downhole monitoring and problem confirmation. Using the sonoecho™ acoustic well sounder continuous verification of well production efficiency will be achieved at the cheapest and least invasive way. Combining the latest acoustic wave generation technology, the sonoecho™ acoustic well sounder may be used to diagnose any well with a packerless completion, and any type of artificial lift method such as rod lift, plunger lift, gas lift, ESP and PCP pump installations.

ATEX AND INTRINSICALLY SAFETY
